It took a minute to write this as it took me over a week to process what I watched in the new Avengers: Infinity War movie. Now that I had the time to finally process, here are my thoughts. 10 years and 18 movies to get to this point has surely been a movie and comic book ride of a lifetime. In 1992 The Infinity War was a popular comic book series published by Marvel Comics. This series was written by Jim Starlin and penciled by Ron Lim, Ian Laughlin, Al Milgrom, Jack Morelli and Christie Scheele. The storyline is a direct sequel to the 1991 "Infinity Gauntlet" crossover, and was followed by The Infinity Crusade in 1993. As for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Avengers: Infinity War is the movie we all anticipated so eagerly to see, then once we saw it, we wished we didn't. As one critic put it; "Avengers: Infinity War takes you places that most superhero movies don't and where you may not want to go."
The film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, and features an ensemble cast including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Don Cheadle, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Josh Brolin, and Chris Pratt. Whew!
In Avengers: Infinity War, the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy attempt to stop Thanos from amassing the all-powerful Infinity Stones. With an estimated budget of at least $320 million, it is one of the most expensive films ever made. But that's okay because it continues its record pace, topping $450 million domestically in just nine days and the $1 billion mark worldwide in a record 11 days. Can you say Cha Ching!? For me the movie was exactly a universe type of movie as I got to watch many of of favorite characters interact together, fight together, and...um..live together? With a full all star cast, awesome fight sequences, humor, and emotional moments, this movie is sure to not disappoint. However, the only drawback I would have to say is, if you haven't kept up with all the other MCU movies, you might get lost here. With so much going on, you're having to sit through a 2 1/2 hour long movie with an ending that will leave you with your jaw dropped for about a good 3 minutes. Don't go see this movie with any expectations either, they will fail. Believe me, mines did. It's definatley not what you'd expect because with the film's steady parade of failure and even death. Plans fail. Character fails. Even sacrifices fail. It's not exactly refreshing, but it is bracing, and even gratifying. This is the one movie that changes the game for the future MCU movies! Go see it and enjoy the ride!
