KONG, The Real Beauty and the Beast.

This week I happened to watch two great movies that just recently came out, Kong: Skull Island and Beauty and the Beast. Here is my review on both films.

1st I like to say that I came into watching Kong with an expectation of a "monster" movie where you know, two or more monsters battle it out with flesh flying and jaws snapping out. Your typical b rated monster movie with a little more better graphics. Plus I wanted to see some action and get some laughs. Kong: Skull Island did not disappoint! I got all what I expected and then some. Kong is a fun thrilling ride about an ape not to be messed with. Of course with Legendary Pictures making the successful 2014 Godzilla and now Kong: Skull Island you can't help but wonder if the two kings of monsters will meet? Trust me, they will! With the story and trailer revealing Monarch the secret organization that follows these creatures in the movie, then there's no doubt that you'll be seeing more movies with monsters. Which leaves me to my next statement. When you go see Kong: Skull Island, see till the end of credits. MIND BLOWN! Now Beauty and the Beast unfortunately I came in with a higher expectation watching the film. Well when you have the 1991 Disney original which became the very first full length animated feature in cinema history to be nominated for the Academy Award for best picture, you have great expectations! Which probably have killed it for me. No doubt Disney did a great job putting this movie together but for me it doesn't live up to the magic of the original. The film seemed too rushed and the acting wasn't great. It's okay that Disney is doing a trend of making live action movies out of favorite animated classics, especially after the successful Jungle Book movie. However, there's just some movies that are so much of a classic that you dare not touch it unless you come with an A game plan! Beauty and the Beast does have some nice new additions to the story, I'll give it that but the movie in all doesn't cut it for me. The kids will probably enjoy it but definitely not more than the parents. These parents grew up with the animated original and will most likely be singing throughout the movie again. Well that's my take on the two films, let me know what you think. Have a good time watching movies! Peace out.
